Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholars Program
Target: High school seniors and college students identifying as being of Hispanic Heritage planning to enroll in college the upcoming school year
About: Each year, HSF selects 10,000 students as HSF Scholars. Scholars have access to support services including career services, mentorship, leadership development, knowledge building, and wellness training. Students will receive assistance in finding job opportunities, internships, and networking. Additionally, Scholars are eligible to receive a scholarship from $500-$5,000 depending on available funds and participation.
CHCI NextGen Latino Leadership Program
Target: 10th grade and 11th grade students that demonstrate an interest in civic engagement, preference for individuals with financial need
About: CHCI’s NextGen Latino Leadership Program is an all-expenses paid leadership experience designed for high school students. Participants spend a week exploring Washington D.C., attending civic engagement and leadership workshops, and building life-long friendships. Throughout the week, students will gain a better understanding of top issues that face the Latino community and how they can make their voices heard.
CHCI Congressional Internship Program
Target: Hispanic undergraduate and recent graduate students that exemplify high academic achievement, leadership skills, and a commitment to public service
About: CHCI’s Congressional Internship Program offers paid internships to college students during the Summer and Fall. Students meet with accomplished leaders dedicated to improving the Latino community, further their legislative knowledge, develop their network, and explore the nation’s capital. Interns attend weekly programing sessions on CHCI’s Pillars of Leadership, providing students support to become the next generation of leaders.
National Museum of the American Latino Youth Ambassador Program
Target: Rising high school seniors that are authorized to work in the US with a minimum 3.0 GPA
About: The Young Ambassadors Program (YAP) is a national program for rising high school seniors that fosters the next generation of community-conscious leaders in the arts, sciences, and humanities via the Smithsonian Institution and its resources. Ambassadors participate in a weeklong seminar in Washington D.C. and complete a virtual community practicum in their local region.
Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards
Target: High school seniors with a minimum unweighted 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale that will enroll in an accredited higher education institution the following year
About: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation Youth Awards recognizes high school students for their achievements in the classroom, community, and focus on career paths in STEM fields, entrepreneurship, media, public service, and other categories. Gold, Silver, and Bronze recipients are selected in each category and receive a one-time innovation grant to fund their college education or support a community service effort addressing a social issue. Additionally, one national awardee is selected in each category.
League of United Latin American Citizens National Scholarship Fund
Target: High achieving students that have applied to or are enrolled in a college or university full-time with a participating LULAC Council in their area
About: The LULAC National Scholarship Fund provides students with varying scholarships from $250-$2,000 depending on community involvement, need, and academic achievement. Students must have a LULAC Council in their area to apply.
Latino Youth Leadership Conference
Target: High school juniors and seniors between the ages 16-18 residing in the state of Nevada
About: The LYLC is a week of leadership training and development for high school students in Nevada. Students are housed at the University of Nevada and particpate in a series of workshops that cover various workshops related to cultural identity. The program is free, is not solely merit-based, and is not solely need-based.
Hispanic Federation Crear Futuros
Target: Current college students at participating universities. Students at non-participating universities interested in CREAR Futuros can contact the Hispanic Federation for more information.
About: CREAR Futuros is a peer-mentor program that recruits qualified Latinx students in participating educational institutions to mentor, guide, and support younger students, or mentees. Mentors assist mentees regarding tutoring, financial aid, and resources available to them including, services offered by Hispanic Federation’s community-based member organizations.
HSF Youth Leadership Institute
Target: Current high school juniors with an unweighted cumulative GPA above 3.0. Students must currently attend a high school in the US and plan to enroll in an accredited four-year university after high school graduation
About: YLI is a free, college empowerment program for high achieving Latino high school juniors, held virtually and at two top universities across the US. This highly selective program is designed to give young leaders the practical tools they need to successfully apply to top universities, have full access to scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and set a course for academic and career success. Attendees will enhance their leadership abilities and expand their professional networks by participating in college and career workshops and interacting with college students and professionals who serve as their mentors.
